Siemens Hearing Instruments has launched Life™ and Motion™, two new hearing instruments developed for individuals who want discreet and fashionable devices that work with their lifestyle.

The instruments are available in a range of colours and include state-of-the-art innovations such as automatic adjustment, excellent sound quality and suppression of wind noise and feedback noise for greater user comfort.

Life is a hearing device for mild to moderate hearing loss and uses an open fit concept to allow an element of natural hearing. It is smaller and lighter than conventional behind-the-ear devices for greater comfort and is available in discreet skin or hair matching shades, two-tone fresh colours or in fashionable patterns.

Technical aspects of the design include a form of artificial intelligence. 'DataLearning' remembers the volume preferences of users in particular situations and automatically adjusts them in future. This is taken a step further with optional 'SoundLearning' where the instrument saves the individual settings for the preferred sound quality turning the instrument into a trainable instrument. Life is also Bluetooth™ enabled via the TEK Connect, incorporates rechargeable batteries and is compatible with a pen shaped remote controller designed to allow discreet volume control.

Motion is a behind-the-ear or in-the-ear instrument for moderate to severe hearing loss. It can be charged overnight so no battery replacement is necessary, it is water repellent and features automatic adjustment, suppression of wind noise or feedback noise and provides brilliant sound quality in the basic device, not always the case with other brands.

Included with Motion is Siemens' innovative TruEar™ and e2e wireless™ technologies, which enable users to distinguish if sound is coming from front, back, left or right. Further advanced technologies are integrated into Motion. For example, SoundSmoothing™ automatically softens sudden noises and SoundBrilliance™ is a digital sound processing system that emphasises relevant sounds. This results in a more comfortable and hassle free hearing experience.

"Life and Motion utilise advanced technology to provide a more natural and intuitive hearing experience yet at the same time can be personalised to lifestyles," states Darren Ransley, UK Marketing and Product Manager at Siemens Hearing Instruments. "Technology keeps evolving and the sizes keep shrinking which will assist in hearing health education programmes that aim to overturn the stigma still often associated with wearing a hearing instrument."

Both Life and Motion devices are compatible with Tek™, an innovative device that enables users to wirelessly connect hearing instruments in stereo directly to audio sources such as mobile phones, televisions, MP3 players and home stereos systems. For example, the hearing instrument automatically informs the user when the mobile phone rings and the user can answer the call with the remote control without having to hold the mobile to the ear. This gives a new dimension of comfort in listening to 21st century gadgets and home entertainment systems. Speakers or additional earphones are not necessary.
